Why are we being so strict with the web host2020-07-20T19:36:38-05:00

We are being this strict because cheaper or free web hosting, they give problems and errors. They do not have the proper systems to maintain our high-quality web sites. If you order a web design and we don’t agree with your web host, we will give you the chance to purchase one from our recommended list. If not, we will cancel and refund your order.

Support for your WordPress website is a service provided by The Indie Ally.

We created your website, now what? Having support for website means that we will answer all the questions/issues pertaining to your author website and plugins associated with your WordPress website. You can ask questions and make the changes yourself or if you have a maintenance package, we will do it for you.

Read the item documentation first

Upon completion of your author website, you will receive a customized documentation on how to update your website. Additionally, you can find videos in the ‘Tips, Tricks & Troubleshooting‘ and other threads to help you update your website. Many support queries and technical questions can be found in the ‘Tips, Tricks & Troubleshooting‘ and or FAQ section.

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for then consider posting a thread and asking for help.

What’s included with our support

When you purchase a web design package or a site maintenance package from us we will update your website on your behalf. Those updates aren’t only technical but include author updates like: Add/Edit buy links, Book covers, Book Summaries, Adding a new book, Adding book /series pages, Adding/deleting pages in general, Adding a blog, Author picture, Author bio and We will update your blog.

Other updates include uploading other plugins, however, the author has to purchase the plugin if it costs additional fee’s. We will install a plugin and configure it (Depends on the plugin and the complexity level there may be additional charges see FAQ)

We will also update your website.

30 days of maintenance includes everything above, but as stated if an author wants an additional plugin that costs money, the author has to purchase the plugin beforehand.

Basic and Advanced support

When you check out the Site Maintenance package there are two kinds, Basic and Advance packages. Depending on what you need, purchase the package accordingly.

1. Update packages include basic updates only.

2. WordPress Updates are for the technical support; adding/removing plugins and upgrading a WordPress site.

Basic includes: Add/Edit buy links, Book covers, Book Summaries, Adding a new book, Adding book /series pages, Adding/deleting pages in general, Adding a blog, Author picture, Author bio and We will update your blog.

Advanced includes: Site updates and adding/ removing a plugin.

Answering technical questions about the WordPress/ Plugins

You can direct your questions/concerns in this forum. You can ask all the questions you want without needing a maintenance package, however, if you want us to manually help you then you will need a package.

1. We will answer your specific questions about the features and functionality of your WordPress/ Plugins

2. Provide help to the best of our abilities

3. If a question was answered in the forums or FAQ we will redirect you to where you can find your solution

Help with defects in the theme/plugins or included third-party assets

When we create your website, The Indie Ally uses third-party plugins to help with the look of your website. If you have any problems with these plugins, you can report and discuss bugs and minor defects. The creator of the plugins is required to assist with the problems, so let us know in the forums and we will contact the creators on your behalf.

Theme/plugin updates to ensure ongoing compatibility and to resolve security vulnerabilities

If a supported theme/plugin includes a third party asset (e.g., a plugin), or is intended to work with third-party software or platforms (e.g. a CMS), creators are expected to ensure the theme/plugins remains compatible if the software or platform version is updated. This includes if the third party asset has a security update. The Indie Ally will make sure that your plugins and themes are updated on your behalf if you purchased the Gold Web Design package or if you have a Site Maintenance package.

Installation of the website

The Indie Ally has a working knowledge of the software platforms and technologies for which items are created. If you have your own host, The Indie Ally will have to verify that your host can handle a WordPress website. Not every host can tolerate the CMS that we use.

Hosting, server environment, or software

Clients must be Authors to be approved for Hosting, and The Indie Ally does not provide help with issues with the software you’ve installed to use. If you would like help, contact the creator. The Indie Ally will only help if you purchased the Gold Package.

What’s included in all Web Design purchases

Depends on the package ‘bought’…

Once we complete your website, it should work as described. You can view how a template will look by browsing the premade templates, or if you have a custom design request, you can view the website while it is being constructed. WordPress will update on its own to automatically protect your website from major security issues.

The Indie Ally will create an author website if you purchase one of our recommended hosts. The below web hosts are reputable and have proven over and over that they are reliable. Granted, not everything is perfect but we will only work with the list below.

Cheaper or free web hosts always gives problems and headaches. We are trying to avoid the many problems that will arise. We love all the hosts below and recommend them because we have used them at one point or another.

When setting up hosting with The Indie Ally, it is recommended that you transfer your domain name to our servers. When you request a domain transfer you will receive a code, in which you will provide it to us.  You will need to visit your web host website and follow their rules on how to receive a transfer code.

Hi! Welcome to The Indie Ally’s Refund Rules. Since we are a platform, these rules outline what you can expect from us based off of the services that you purchase. They apply to all customers/clients.

The services that sell on the platform are digital services and cannot be “returned”, so your entitlement to a refund is designed with this in mind. Of course, in addition to these rules, each country has its own laws surrounding refunds, and these local laws are not excluded if they apply to you.

Before you ask for a refund from an author

If you have purchased a service or an item from us we recommend that you contact us and seek assistance.

Asking for refunds

We understand, however, that sometimes The Indie Ally may not be able to solve your issue or there may be circumstances in which a refund is warranted. In this case, here are the circumstances in which we would expect an author to provide you with a refund:

  • Service is “not as described”.
  • Website has a security vulnerability
  • Service was promised but not provided

Service/ premade is “not as described” or doesn’t work the way it should.

If a website doesn’t work the way it should then The Indie Ally is required to promptly fix the issue. If you received a premade and the information was missing or incorrect then, we will fix the issue. If there is a problem with hosting, then we will fix the problem. If the issue can’t be fixed or it turns out that the service/ item is “not as described” then you would be entitled to a refund.

Item support is promised but not provided

If you have a current support entitlement, and you are not provided that support, then you will be provided a refund.

Resolving disputes – asking The Indie Ally to help

If you(buyer/ client) and The Indie Ally can’t come to an agreement about a refund, then you will be asked to provide supporting documentation or evidence. Any refund issued by The Indie Ally is entirely discretionary. We will make a decision based on all available information and you agree that our decision is final.

The Indie Ally is not obliged to give policy refunds in any of the situations listed below.

  1. you didn’t want it after purchasing
  2. you have changed your mind about a service;
  3. The Service/item did not meet your expectations or you feel the item is of low quality;
  4. You claim that you are entitled to a refund but do not provide sufficient information as to why you are entitled to a refund;
  5. you bought a service by mistake;
  6. you do not have sufficient expertise to use WordPress;
  7. Deposits are nonrefundable;
  8. you are not pleased that you didn’t make sales;
  9. you didn’t see the Facebook posts ;
  10. there wasn’t any interaction on your Facebook post; or
  11. you ask for goodwill;

Each group cost $5 to advertise your ebook and as stated on the Facebook Promotion page:

1. We DO NOT take last minute promotions. We will need at least a week notice before your promotion begins.

2. We, however, cannot guarantee any likes, interactions or sales.

3. You will be tagged in every post, so you have proof that we are sharing your ebook. We will also provide you with a list of Facebook groups for you to join.

‘Book’ Page, this option will list all of your books on (1) page. The summaries, buy links, and book covers. As the reader scrolls down the page, they will eventually get through your backlog. If you have a huge series list, then maybe upgrade to a series page. The additional page cost is $15.

‘Single Book’ Page, this option means that each book will have its own page. All eyes on this book only.

‘Series’ Page, this option means that each ‘book series’ has its own page. If you have 2 different series, then ‘Series A’ will be displayed on its own, and all its books. ‘Series B’ will have its own page, with a list of all the books. From there you can decide if you want to display all the book information on the ‘Series’ page or we can create a dedicated page for each and every book.

Yes, of course! Despite the fact that you are choosing a premade template, we want you to be proud of your site. Therefore you can control colors, fonts and placement of your content. Graphics and images can be swapped out. Essentially, where we may draw the line if it affects the overall structure of the website.

Keep in mind that if your changes are too extensive, there will be a $99 fee.

If you want to change your entire theme there is $199 fee.

  1. Choose a design package.
  2. Fill out the form and send us everything. Author name, author bio and all book information(covers, blurbs, teasers and or excerpts etc) Colors, preferences and your ideas and inspirations, everything.
  3. Once we receive all the information, the designer will contact you to confirm your spot and provide you a quote.
  4. When you confirm that you want to go ahead with the designing process, you will be sent a contract and invoice for half of the quote.
  5. After payment is received, a mock-up design of your personal website will start.
  6. When the mock-up is completed, you can check out your website and provide feedback.
  7. When you approve the website, you will need to pay the other half of the invoice.
  8. Once payment is confirmed, you will receive WordPress Login details

In the beginning stage, you’ll get the chance to review your home page to see which direction The Indie Ally is taking your website. You will be able to provide guidance in the mockup design, so hopefully, there will be no hiccups.

  2. Before we begin designing your website, you will pay half your invoice and the other half once completed.

  1. Hosting cost and domain name is included when you purchase the Gold Or Platinum.
  2. The Indie Ally will set it up and configure the website to use WordPress.
  3. Once your website is completed, you will receive login details.
  4. If you want SSL, the cost is $99.
  5. Free email address: admin@yourname.com.
  6. Daily FREE back up, sent directly to your email address or I can back your files to a Google Account.

* When you host with us, no need to update WordPress manually.

It depends. Assuming that the hosting is taken care of, and you provided all the correct information, a deposit was received and we have agreed on a start date; then usually maximum 7 days.
